BHF Research Story of the Year – Winners! (featuring S Club 7)

Adam, Harry and Nina visited London in December 2024 to attend the BHF Heart Hero awards. The event recognised the incredible fundraisers, young advocates, lifesavers, healthcare professionals and outstanding supporters who go above and beyond for British Heart Foundation.

After being one of three research stories that were shortlisted from an initial 14, the public voted for the story which inspired them the most. Incredibly, the microvascular group won the most votes, making them the BHF Research Story of the Year 2024 winners! Find more information about the event here.

“My team and I are delighted to have been chosen as the winners of the British Heart Foundation’s Research Story of the Year award. Our research marks a revolutionary step forward in understanding the vascular causes of dementia and uncovers new routes for drugs to target the drivers of this devastating condition. The British Heart Foundation has been funding my work for the last 12 years, and it has been the privilege of a lifetime. None of these breakthroughs would exist if it wasn’t for their unwavering and continuous support. Dementia in the over 65’s is largely a vascular illness – together with the British Heart Foundation we are going to stop it in it’s tracks” – Professor Adam Greenstein
