Dr Stephanie Worton

Dr Stephanie Worton is a Clinician Scientist and Honorary Consultant Obstetrician with a dual appointment between the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences and the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre at the University of Manchester. She completed her MBChB and MRes degrees at the University of Manchester and was subsequently awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and completed her PhD in 2019.

Her research interest lies in understanding maternal vascular physiology and identifying new treatments for maternal vascular dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Stephanie is currently the recipient of a Dean’s Prize Fellowship to study calcium signalling in the microvasculature in pre-eclampsia.

Stephanie works clinically as a Consultant Obstetrician at Manchester Foundation Trust. She is passionate about microvascular function and enjoys balancing her research with the adrenaline of delivering babies on a busy delivery unit.  Stephanie is enthusiastic about encouraging young clinicians to try laboratory science, an experience that transformed her own career.
