Junzhe recently joined the Microvascular group to investigate the mechanisms linking amyloid and cell adhesion in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) under the mentorship of Professor Adam Greenstein and Professor Martin Humphries.

Junzhe’s current research focuses on understanding whether and how amyloid β1-40 enhances cell attachment and the downstream signaling pathways involved in this process, utilizing molecular and cellular biology techniques such as cell spreading assays and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
Before joining Adam’s lab, Junzhe completed a CRUK-funded PhD in Cancer Science under the supervision of Professor Martin Humphries at the University of Manchester in Dec 2021. Junzhe continued as a research associate in Martin’s lab, further developing expertise in cell adhesion mechanisms and signaling pathways. Junzhe is proficient in techniques such as GFP-trap/BioID proteomics, CRISPR-based gene editing, immunofluorescence microscopy and quantification. In addition to their research, Junzhe has published in respected journals such as Matrix Biology and continues to contribute to the fields of integrin biology and signaling in disease contexts.
